Biography
Ms. Barikisu Suleiman is an experienced educator, curriculum leader, and teacher trainer currently teaching at Accra STEM Academy, where she serves as Grade 3 Teacher and Curriculum Lead. She is also a Master Fellow and Trainer with the Institute of Teacher Education and Development (INTED), supporting professional learning for educators. She previously served as Deputy Headteacher and Curriculum Lead at Answaru-Deen Islamic Basic School for over a decade before being posted to her current school.
She has also contributed to education development as a member of the District Teacher Support Teams for both Okaikwei North and Ayawaso West Municipal Education Directorates. She holds a B.Ed. in Basic Education (Mathematics) and is pursuing an MBA in Human Resource Management at the University of Ghana. Her awards include Ghana’s National Best Primary School Teacher (2023) and other recognitions for excellence in teaching and leadership.
Experience
Ms. Barikisu Suleiman is an experienced teacher trainer, facilitator, and instructional leader with active involvement in educator professional development across Ghana. She serves as a Master Fellow and Trainer with the Institute of Teacher Education and Development (INTED), where she has facilitated USAID-supported Master Fellows Programme modules under the Strategic Observation and Reflection (SOAR) courses. These sessions focused on lesson design, academic language acquisition, student engagement, and improving learning outcomes through reflective practice. Her training engagements with INTED have reached educators across the Greater Accra, Volta, Eastern, and Central Regions of Ghana.
She has also participated in the Leadership for Learning Programme, supporting school leaders in instructional improvement.
At the District Teacher Support Teams for Okaikwei North and Ayawaso West Municipal Education Directorates, she has co-facilitated workshops on differentiated instruction, teacher burnout management, and Transition to English (T2E). Additionally, she has independently organised teacher training on “Elevating Learners Through Teaching Excellence,” focused on improving classroom practice and learner achievement. Her facilitation is grounded in practical classroom experience and teacher support.
