Biography

Ann Marie Christian is a safeguarding practitioner, trainer, and senior leader in child protection with nearly three decades of experience supporting children, families, schools, and organisations. A qualified child protection social worker since 1996, she has worked across frontline practice, leadership, and management roles in children's services and education.

Ann Marie has led child protection teams, advised schools on safeguarding practice, and provided training and consultancy to a wide range of organisations, including local authorities, the NSPCC, international school associations, boarding schools, charities, and education leaders. As an affiliated consultant with the Council of International Schools (CIS), she has supported international schools worldwide and delivered safeguarding training to senior leaders across the Middle East, Africa, Europe, and Asia.

Passionate about ensuring every child is heard, valued, and protected, Ann Marie specialises in helping schools move beyond compliance to build strong safeguarding cultures that place the welfare and voice of the child at the centre of practice.

  • Trained school leaders, staff, and governance on safeguarding since 2003.
  • Worked as a manager responding to allegations against staff for a local authority in the UK and in school compliance.
  • Public speaking since 2003. Speak at UK and international education safeguarding conferences every few months, for example, the UAE, Caribbean, Africa, and the UK. Deliver keynotes, workshops or seminars.  Write articles for UK and international journals. 
  • Worked with international governments, supporting them in safeguarding support and government strategies. A member of a few working groups in the UK national government .
