Boaz Nii Sowah Annang

Boaz Nii Sowah Annang is an expert aquatics educator, certified World Aquatics coach and technical official, and an International Life Saving Federation (ILSF) referee for beach and ocean lifesaving sports. He is also a competitive Ghana Masters swimmer, and the Director of Swimming Events for the Ghana Inter-Schools Festival.

With over two decades of hands-on experience, Boaz is a leading voice for drowning prevention and aquatic safety in West Africa. He has implemented robust water safety, CPR awareness, and basic lifesaving workshops within elite schools, universities, and community summer programs nationwide, including GIS, DPSI, and SIS.

Passionate about whole-child wellbeing, Boaz advocates for a "dry-side" curriculum model that allows schools to teach essential risk literacy and survival behaviours without requiring a swimming pool. His work reframes water safety as a fundamental life skill and a critical pillar of institutional child safeguarding.

Over the past 20 years, I have served as a lead trainer, workshop facilitator, and educational speaker, designing and delivering water safety, drowning prevention, and aquatic survival programs to thousands of participants across Ghana.

My extensive experience in academic and community training environments includes:

• Institutional Frameworks & Workshops: Delivered structured aquatic safety, risk awareness, and basic lifesaving workshops for K-12 students at prestigious international schools, including Ghana International School (GIS), Delhi Private School International (DPSI), and Shield International School (SIS).
• Higher Education Engagement: Facilitated advanced aquatic safety and emergency response workshops tailored for university-level students at Kumasi.
• Regional Community Training: Organized and led large-scale community and school summer training programs across multiple regions in Ghana, including Accra, Kumasi, and Obuasi, focusing on practical CPR awareness and water hazard literacy.
• Event Leadership & Public Briefings: As the Director of Swimming Events for the Ghana Inter-Schools Festival and a certified World Aquatics Technical Official, I regularly brief, train, and manage large groups of sports officials, school coaches, and competitors on safety compliance, regulations, and emergency protocols.

While my historical portfolio is primarily student- and athlete-facing, my delivery style is deeply rooted in pedagogy, curriculum mapping, and actionable life-skills education. I am highly practised in translating complex technical survival skills into accessible, high-engagement learning modules within educational institutions.
