Richard Agbettoh

Richard Kodjo Agbettoh is the Security & Safety Assurance Manager at Ghana International School (GIS), Ghana, and a Security & Safety Leader with over 2 decades of experience spanning international education, the extractive industry, enterprise risk management, and security technology. A Certified Strategy Professional, ISO Integrated Management Systems Lead Auditor, and Certified Member of ASIS International, he specializes in occupational safety, security governance, compliance, and organizational resilience.

Richard led the development of GIS's integrated safety and risk management framework, contributing to the school's recognition as the Global Winner in the Compliance & Risk Management Category at the 2026 International SOS Foundation Duty of Care Awards, as well as HESS Awards for Best Institution in Security & Safety Management Practices and Best Institution in Health, Environment, Safety & Security Awareness. He is passionate about empowering people, building resilient organizations, and transforming education through proactive safety and security leadership.

Richard Kodjo Agbettoh is a facilitator, and trainer with over 2 decades of leadership in security, safety, and risk management. He has presented at the previous 8th TIME Educators Conference, sharing practical strategies on campus security, occupational safety, and organizational resilience.

At Ghana International School (GIS), Richard routinely delivers Security & Safety Assurance orientation sessions for newly admitted parents annually and randomly, equipping families with the knowledge needed to support a safe and secure learning environment.  He has also been invited to present to several international schools on the implementation and benefits of the SMARTSAPP Human Accountability Child Security System, demonstrating how technology can strengthen child safeguarding, accountability, and school-community engagement.

Richard has designed and delivered professional development programmes for security personnel across international schools, training officers at all levels - from frontline guards to supervisors and middle managers - on contemporary campus security, emergency preparedness, customer service, and internationally recognized best practices. His training philosophy incorporates the principles of Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL), competency-based development, and continuous professional improvement.

During his tenure with Gold Fields Ghana Limited, Richard established and led the Security and Asset Protection Training School, where he developed and implemented structured training programmes for security personnel and supervisory staff. As the Asset Protection Manager, he also trained middle managers in security leadership, operational risk management, and asset protection, helping to build a highly capable and professional security workforce within one of Ghana's leading mining organizations.
